Emily’s next project will be her feature length directorial debut. Her film, 27 by Mark Athridge, is in its final rewrites and plans to shoot at the beginning of April. The psychological thriller will be shot primarily in New York’s Spanish Harlem, as well as several midtown locations. For the project, Ms. Speer’s production company, Big M Productions, Inc., will be teaming up with Cowgirl Media, Inc., helmed by Josie Maynard. Ms. Maynard will be producing alongside Ms. Speer and the duo plan to release the film late in the fall of 2010.
This will be the second project co-produced by Speer and Maynard. In 2009, the pair joined forces to finish the documentary Shades of Grey, a film about the perilous journey of a filmmaker (Maynard) in and out of the war-torn country of Afghanistan. The film, to be released in the spring of 2010, is Maynard’s feature length directorial debut. The pair intends to work on several more projects in the near future.
Other projects recently in development include two short films written by Mark Athridge titled "Meet Cute" and "Last Call", which will grace the Internet viewing audience as early as April 2011. Her first short film, “Temptation”, as well as her second short, “Sorrow”, will appear on this site at a later date. Emily directed and co-produced a television pilot “Headshots” with a group of friends from theater. This pilot was put together in under two months and taken to the National Association of Television Producers and Executives (NATPE) convention in January of 2007. Since then, the pilot has been shopped to several production houses and was picked up as background fodder for the new Roger Michell film Morning Glory. This pilot is viewable on YouTube.
